For Baltimore’s business community, her election highlights the connection between nonprofit governance and cultural life. Arts institutions depend on engaged trustees who can help strengthen community relationships, attract support and provide oversight. Thornton’s background brings experience in both fundraising and arts governance to that work.
The upcoming breakfast will recognize her election and celebrate leadership, service and the performing arts, according to the event announcement. Ken-Matt Martin is listed as the keynote speaker.
The celebration will take place Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Baltimore Center Stage, 700 N. Calvert St., Baltimore, MD 21202.
